Vegetarian Find: Shakey's Meatless Pizza with Quorn

Vegetarian options in most pizzerias are rare and hard to find but Shakey's Pizza Parlor has collaborated with Quorn to offer 2 vegetarian pizzas on their menu. I have always loved pizza and I have been trying to find ways to indulge my cravings at home since most restaurant pizza's have meat.

So news of a meatless pizza definitely caught my attention and I took the opportunity to take a bite, a slice, ok several slices of these 2 pizzas. The verdict: these pizza's are still a yummy treat!

Musli Biscuits - A Healthy Source of Energy

I attended the Blogapalooza event just recently. It was my first time to do so and I was glad that I attended. There were some brands and products that really interested me and I want to share them with everyone. One of the products that caught my interest is Musli Biscuits.

Musli biscuits with 40% oats in Hazelnut flavor.

People who exercise often find themselves eating expensive protein bars and other pricey health snacks. This can take a toll on your budget so a cheaper but a still healthy option is much needed in the market. Musli biscuits satisfies both these requirements.

A Fun, Fur-filled Day at Barkin' Blends, Katipunan

Scientific studies agree with pet owners and pet lovers that owning a pet or being around them can relieve stress and anxiety. However, it can be challenging to keep a pet around when your days are always busy and you can't bring them to work. Luckily, some pet lovers came up with the idea of bringing dogs and humans together to have fun with each other.

Lots of furry friends at Barkin' Blends.

Barkin' Blends is a dog cafe that allows stressed out humans to chill out for a while and have fun with all sorts of furry dog friends, in all sorts of sizes. We visited the place just to be with some furry friends and we couldn't get enough of the dogs. You know what's coming next, right?

Some Fun Rides and Amazing View at Sky Ranch, Tagaytay

Our main mission for going to Tagaytay was to get as many shots of the lake as we can from various vantage points and to enjoy some of the famous spots along the way. One of the best ways to get a good view of Taal Lake was to be somewhere high.

Our ride to more amazing views of Taal Lake.

Fortunately, a ferris wheel ride was just a drive away from where we took our lunch. We decided to enjoy some rides and the view at the Sky Ranch.

Quaint and Cute Garden Plus Good Food in Bag of Beans, Tagaytay

Once we had done indulging our eyes with the various views of Mt. Batulao and exploring Chapel on the Hill in Nasugbu, Batangas, our tummies were eager to experience some delicious and filling food.

Floating umbrellas welcomed us at the entrance gate.

We headed straight away to one of the most popular restaurants in Tagaytay: Bag of Beans located at 115 Aguinaldo Highway. They have several branches but this one is the biggest and also offers many picture-worthy spots. So we forgot our hunger for awhile as we admired the decorations and snapped away.

Admiring Mt. Batulao and Chapel on the Hill, Nasugbu, Batangas

Part of our itinerary on our Tagaytay Day Trip was to check out Mt. Batulao. So we went a little further and ended up in Nasugbu, Batangas where the mountain was located.

View of Mt. Batulao on the way to our quest for information.

We wanted to check out where we could find information about Mt. Batulao as we were interested in scheduling a trek. However, we could not find any establishment or individuals who could gave us the information we needed. We tried going into the direction of the mountain but the place seemed like we were going into the jungles. We also encountered 2 paths that went different ways and we didn't know which one to take.

A Day Trip to Tagaytay - Taal Lake View from Restaurants

This past summer, everyone wanted to get out of the city to escape the heat. Almost everyone wanted to go to Baguio where it was much cooler. We knew the city would be packed so we opted instead to go on a road trip and cool ourselves somewhere near and so we found ourselves in Tagaytay.

A Restaurant with a View

We travelled early so we could cover more places to go and we made our itinerary on the way there. Our first goal was to check out a restaurant or eatery with a good view of the lake.

Vegetarian Find: Super Duck Modern Tea at SM Cyber West

Milk tea shops are sprouting all around the city and while I'm not very fond of them, I do enjoy them. However, I have always found it inconvenient that milk tea shop menus offer mostly sweets for food.

Super Duck Vegetarian Treats

I am always on the lookout for vegetarian food finds and when I learned that Super Duck Modern Tea offers vegetarian items on their menu, I had to try it out.

A Summer Escapade at Calaguas Island, Camarines Norte

In my childhood days, summer was not complete without a family outing to the beach. As a grown-up, work has been the focus of many of my activities. However, I still crave for the sand, sun and waves come summer time. It is hard to get away from the city to schedule some downtime but me and a friend were able to realise our plan for a summer escapade.

Picture-perfect beach, taken from the shade.

We have always wanted to explore hidden gems in our islands and what better opportunity to visit one of them than this summer? So off we went planning and finally exploring Calaguas Island in Camarines Norte. Heads up! Another photo journal coming up.

Viewing the Windmills at Pililla, Rizal

When we visited the artist Leo Meneses for an interview, he promised to take us to the windmills afterwards. So we took off right after lunch, at 2PM to be exact, because we wanted to get back to Manila early and we were excited to see the windmills.

Windmills in the distance got us even more excited.

I have been to the windmills in Bangui, Ilocos Norte before and I had always wanted to go back. I didn't know there was a wind farm much nearer Manila so this was a welcome surprise. Fair warning: photo blog to follow.

Leo Meneses: Lover of Nature, Art and Life

There are many chances of meeting an actor or singer when you live in the city near the biggest media networks. There are lesser chances of meeting a painter or a musician as you go about your daily commute to work. I have always admired people in the fine arts and getting the chance to meet one was a chance I could not pass over.

The artist in his modest work space.

Mr. Leo Meneses was the artist we were going to meet with in his hometown of Pililla, Rizal. I've always wanted to have a conversation with an artist and learn about what inspired them to pursue their creative side, why they do what they do and many other questions that only frustrated artists like me can relate to.

Vegetarian Find: Green Earth Health Food at Lucban, Quezon

One dilemma that I always have when travelling is whether I will find a place that offers vegetarian/vegan food options. It has always been difficult to do so in most of the destinations I have been to but on our trip to Kamay ni Hesus in Lucban, Laguna, there was one such place that allowed me to eat the healthy food I was craving.

Vegetarian/Vegan Food Options in Kamay ni Hesus, Lucban, Quezon

I was feeling rather achy, cold and weak that morning but seeing the words Green Earth on a sign among the food stalls almost made me jump for joy! I was excited to see what foodie treats they offered.

Morning Climb at Kamay ni Hesus Shrine, Lucban, Quezon

We spent Valentine's Day admiring the awesomeness of Hulugan Falls, the Caliraya sunset and the scenic spots along the way. The next day, we carried our aching limbs to Lucban, Quezon to visit the Kamay ni Hesus Shrine.

The name of the place in large letters.

At first, my friend Sarah and I didn't want to climb anymore because we felt too weak and achy to climb after our adventure at the falls. Our friends were eager to go though, so we let them go ahead while we looked around to soak in the cool air and the scenery.

Sunset at Caliraya and Other Wonderful Sights at Cavinti, Laguna

It's officially summer! While this memory I'm sharing is still from the month of hearts, I still want to have this story told (or shown as might be the case) just because it provided me a much-needed respite from the city bustle and gave me the chance to appreciate the beauty of nature once more.

Caliraya Lake

Heads up to those of you who may have started to read this post. There's not much going on in this story since we mostly spent it snapping away at all the beautiful places we were passing by. So if some of these pictures look blurry, I apologize. They were taken in a fast-moving car, with a digital camera but mostly with a camera phone. I still think we managed to get decent pictures, so you may enjoy the rest of this photo album if you still want to see more.

Falling in Love with Hulugan Falls, Luisiana, Laguna

The month of hearts has gone by and while I didn't fall in love with someone, I did fall in love with a place which still makes me smile even now whenever I recall it.

Early morning trek to Hulugan Falls with the foggy mountain peak greeting us.

We were invited by some friends to spend our Valentine weekend away from the city. We readily said yes and opted to sweat for health so we could experience some of nature's wonders which took our breath away in at least a couple of ways.

Vegetarian Find: Falafel Balls in Soft Tacos at Hillside Cafe & Juice Bar

Trying to eat healthy can be quite a struggle when traveling around the city. Thankfully, there are restaurants that offer vegetarian and vegan options. You just need to find them though but in the end, your persistence is definitely worth it.

The pretty and clearly laid out menu is also big for easier reading.

A visit to the picturesque Hillside Cafe & Juice Bar turned out to be worth the long walk in the middle of the day, under the hot sun. We treated ourselves to healthy and refreshing food to keep us energized for the rest of the day's work.
