The Spirit Conference International 2020

If you've been feeling down lately, you are not alone. While some of us are okay with coffee as a pick-me-upper, others feel an even deeper feeling of something lacking not just in their systems, but in their lives. During this time where we are all unable to make physical connections; it is time to enhance our inner sense of connection instead.

The Spirit Conference was first held in 2017. This year, the theme of the conference is "Remembering the Spirit". It is a timely and much-needed educational event to help us re-establish our sense of connection to our inner selves and to the greater community, that is humanity, and each being on this planet.

I Went Vegan for a Month and Here's What Happened

Wanting to start the year right is always part of our goals when January turns around. Having positive thoughts and maintaining a positive outlook is also one of my goals for this new year. This is why I am sharing here a positive experience I had a few years back. I decided to switch to eating vegan and I did it cold turkey.

I started a vegan diet cold turkey and I'm still loving it.

I had started researching about healthy eating when my grandmother started getting sick. I particularly looked for articles which offered information on how to reverse diseases and this is how I came to know more about vegetarian and vegan eating.

Vegan Shopping, Food & Learning at VegFest Pilipinas 2017

I attended the recent VegFest Pilipinas 2017 at Eastwood last Saturday. The event in Eastwood lasted for 2 days and although I went there only on the first day, I must say that I am excited for this event to happen again.

The first VegFest happened last year and I was overwhelmed will all the vegan products available but my wallet was not prepared for all the things I wanted to buy. This time around, I attended the event with specific goals in mind.

I Learned the Art of Receiving from A Giving Mission

My feet were aching because I had sprained my right ankle (my whole foot hurt actually) and my whole foot was swollen but also because I was longing to go somewhere. I had been home bound for a couple weeks and I was getting bored. The Universe always makes a way and so I got an invite to a trip I could not refuse.

Sarah and me on a bus to our rendezvous with Project Kulay volunteers.

My friend Sarah invited me to tag along to a community service mission by Project Kulay. The event was called Project Kulayful Christmas where volunteers, together with help from locals, will donate relief goods, slippers, school supplies and toys as well as seeds to the residents of Sitio Bulacan in Capas Tarlac.

Love Happy Retreat: Co-Authoring Your Next Love Story

They say things happen for a reason. When you focus your thoughts on something, the Universe finds ways to direct you to the right path to realize that goal. But sometimes, we end up sabotaging our goals instead. This is especially true when it comes to love and relationships.

Tranquil surroundings for our retreat/workshop.

When asked what I'm looking for in a partner, I have a standard answer of 3 things that I want in the person. But on second thought, I'm not really sure what I want and I wish that someone would guide me to figure it out. The Universe answered, of course with a "love workshop"!

Learning How to Cook Healthy at The Vegetarian Kitchen

My experience on eating vegan and now vegetarian has give me a lot of health benefits. I do cook but most of my dishes are substitutions for the meaty dishes that I usually eat at home and usually using just tofu. I could never get the same taste I get in restaurants and their vegetarian dishes. That's why I have always wanted to attend a cooking class to hone my cooking skills.

Dishes cooked during the class resulted in this delicious buffet which we ate after class.

Luckily,  I caught the announcement of The Vegetarian Kitchen about their cooking class and came to attend their Basic Vegetarian Cooking Class last Sunday.

SiningSaysay - Visual Guide to Philippine History

"A picture paints a thousand words" so goes the saying and one Saturday morning, I saw how pictures, paintings in particular, do just that for Philippine history.

Filipino Responses to Spanish Colonization by Vincent Paolo S. De Pio

The SiningSaysay: Philippine History in Art exhibit opened last Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Gateway Gallery in Cubao, Quezon City. As an exhibit dedicated solely to works of art depicting a nation's history, it is the first of its kind in the country.

Ana Santos: On the Field, On Sex and Sensibilities

This is supposed to be the first post I should have written in this series for last year's 1st Health Bloggers Meet - Kapit-bisig para sa Kalusugan Pangkalahatan: Iulat, Ipahayag, at Isulong, a collaborative effort of The Philippine Health Bloggers Society, International Youth Council Pilipinas and HealthActivist.ph.

Unfortunately, I think I'm the type who can only write about stuff in the order that they are presented or experienced. I'm organized that way and that's generally how I'm able to translate my thoughts unto words or paper. It's like my memory works on a first-in, first-out system.

In my previous post, I shared what I learned about our health care system and what we can do to support efforts to make it better.

Vision for A Better Health Care System in Our Country

Posting something from an event last year again. I have lots to post other than this, but I cannot get over the things I learned during last year's 1st Health Bloggers Meet - Kapit-bisig para sa Kalusugan Pangkalahatan: Iulat, Ipahayag, at Isulong. This was a collaborative effort of The Philippine Health Bloggers Society, International Youth Council Pilipinas and HealthActivist.ph.

There were a lot of things to learn from the whole day event and I cannot get over them until I share them, or at least some of them because it was information overload really, so here goes.

Tri-mona Healthy Dining and The Goddess Workout

Last year, (on December 14, 2013) me and a friend attended the 1st Health Bloggers Meet - Kapit-bisig para sa Kalusugan Pangkalahatan: Iulat, Ipahayag, at Isulong. This was a collaborative effort of The Philippine Health Bloggers Society, International Youth Council Pilipinas and HealthActivist.ph.

Mustard greens as wrap for the delicious filling.

Unlike most events we go to, this was a whole day affair. We didn't regret it however because our time was worth it. We learned many things on how to improve our health and quality of life and we were also introduced to firsthand information on the current state and issues and concerns that need solutions to make our health care system more efficient and accessible to those who need it most.
