Vegetarian / Vegan Find: A Healthier Choice at Hap Chan Tea House

Based on experience, the challenge of sticking to a meat-free diet becomes even more difficult when you go out of familiar surroundings.

Chop Suey Guisado Rice Topping on Hap Chan's menu.

The most convenient option is to go into a restaurant and request for vegetarian and vegan options or ask them to veganize your order. Not all restaurants would fulfill this request but I was lucky that Hap Chan Tea House in Eton Centris accommodated me.

Vegetarian Find: Meatless Dishes at Kanin Club

Eating healthy in the city is sometimes a challenge because most restaurants do not offer vegan or vegetarian options on their menu. When my friends and I decided to meet up, I requested that we go to a place with meatless options so we decided to try Kanin Club at UP Ayala Technohub, Diliman.

One of my favorite dishes at Kanin Club. Thai Green Mango Salad.

Our resto of choice did not disappoint. I checked their menu online so I knew what options I had and I decided on a few that I wanted to try out. Luckily, my friends were supportive. They tried the no meat dishes as well and enjoyed them.

Vegetarian Japanese Food is Not Just Kawaii at Wabi Sabi, Tomas Morato

Aside from anime and bento, Japanese culture has been a fascination of mine. I have also eaten at Japanese restos around the city but I wish they had healthier options. I kept hearing about Wabi Sabi and I had to check it out. Fortunately, they have a branch near our area.

Mushroom Shumai and Chahan with Chili Oil on the side.

The place was small but homey and orders were delivered fast too! The wooden interiors and furniture gave it that Japanese-y ambiance you see in historical period films and anime. It made eating here a really unique experience and the food made it very satisfying too.

Vegetarian Fare to Satisfy Your Tastebuds and Wallet at The Green Wok Vegetarian Bistro

My friends know that I am always on the lookout for healthier food options and of course, healthier restaurant places to go to. By healthier, I mean plant-based food options on the menu and restaurants that offer those kinds of dishes. Discovering these places in my area is always exciting for me. I have discovered another one in Green Wok Vegetarian Bistro.

An instagram pic I posted showing the delicious dishes you can enjoy at Green Wok.

I had visited this bistro a year ago and had been back recently to enjoy their updated menu. Their dishes are still delicious; the portions are satisfying and their prices are still wallet-friendly.

Starting the New Year Healthy at The Vegetarian Kitchen

It's a new year and it's a time for resetting and restarting. After all the unhealthy eating I indulged in last year, I wanted to start the new year right by eating some healthy food. The Vegetarian Kitchen had a whole new menu of healthy and delicious treats so we couldn't wait to try some of them.

As you can see, we had already started on some of the side dishes.

We arrived early at the resto and at first we thought it was still closed but the door was opened for us. They had just started prepping for their first opening day in the new year so we had some leisure going through the new menu. There were so many to choose from!

Vegetarian Find: Shakey's Meatless Pizza with Quorn

Vegetarian options in most pizzerias are rare and hard to find but Shakey's Pizza Parlor has collaborated with Quorn to offer 2 vegetarian pizzas on their menu. I have always loved pizza and I have been trying to find ways to indulge my cravings at home since most restaurant pizza's have meat.

So news of a meatless pizza definitely caught my attention and I took the opportunity to take a bite, a slice, ok several slices of these 2 pizzas. The verdict: these pizza's are still a yummy treat!

A Day Trip to Tagaytay - Taal Lake View from Restaurants

This past summer, everyone wanted to get out of the city to escape the heat. Almost everyone wanted to go to Baguio where it was much cooler. We knew the city would be packed so we opted instead to go on a road trip and cool ourselves somewhere near and so we found ourselves in Tagaytay.

A Restaurant with a View

We travelled early so we could cover more places to go and we made our itinerary on the way there. Our first goal was to check out a restaurant or eatery with a good view of the lake.

Vegetarian Find: Super Duck Modern Tea at SM Cyber West

Milk tea shops are sprouting all around the city and while I'm not very fond of them, I do enjoy them. However, I have always found it inconvenient that milk tea shop menus offer mostly sweets for food.

Super Duck Vegetarian Treats

I am always on the lookout for vegetarian food finds and when I learned that Super Duck Modern Tea offers vegetarian items on their menu, I had to try it out.

Vegetarian Find: Falafel Balls in Soft Tacos at Hillside Cafe & Juice Bar

Trying to eat healthy can be quite a struggle when traveling around the city. Thankfully, there are restaurants that offer vegetarian and vegan options. You just need to find them though but in the end, your persistence is definitely worth it.

The pretty and clearly laid out menu is also big for easier reading.

A visit to the picturesque Hillside Cafe & Juice Bar turned out to be worth the long walk in the middle of the day, under the hot sun. We treated ourselves to healthy and refreshing food to keep us energized for the rest of the day's work.

Vegetarian Find: The Falafel at 8 Cuts Burger Blends

Ever since I started switching to a more plant-based diet, I had resigned myself to not eating burgers anymore. It is hard enough to find a vegetarian or vegan restaurant in malls that won't break your budget but finding a non-meat burger seemed next to impossible until I found this burger.

The Falafel (Php195)

Burgers don't usually excite me but the prospect of a vegetarian burger did. The little jolt of joy that I felt when I heard about it was worth it because this burger was delicious and filling too.

Japanese Food Trip at Ramen Nagi

Once upon a time, after the holidays, three girls chatted and found out that they were all stressed out. One girl was addicted to work, the second was addicted to food, and the third was obsessed with exercise. On a sudden whim, the three girls all decided to meet up and go to the mall.

A snapshot of my foodie buddies before we dug into our ramens.

The three girls wanted to go somewhere new but close to their homes and they were all craving for Japanese food. So the three girls ended up at Robinson's Magnolia to look for Japanese food.

When you're trying your darn best to eat healthy but you need to eat outside of your house a lot, finding a vegetarian version of your favorite food is cause for celebration. I felt like I wanted to celebrate when I found out that Mexicali offers a Grilled Vegetables Burrito.

But did it taste just as good as the meaty variety? I ordered one to find out.

Going Japanese at Oki Oki Japanese Restaurant

After some (window) shopping with a friend, we decided to get something Japanese to treat our taste buds and tummies. But we also wanted something that wouldn't make our wallets cry out so we decided to check out one Japanese resto that we kept passing by near the ground floor entrance of Trinoma. It was the Oki Oki Japanese Restaurant.

We checked out their menu, and we decided that their prices were ok too! So in we went to satisfy our tummies.

Kimchi and Ice Cream Lunch

A mentally (or psychologically) stressful meeting can make one really hungry. Being the foodies that we were (we do love to eat), we also had to satisfy not just our stomachs but also our sense of sight and smell. For today, we not only had a filling lunch, we also enjoyed a delicious dessert.

Kimchi and Bulgogi Bibimbap (Php185.00)

We wanted to get ourselves something hearty and really filling for lunch and from prior experience, The Clubhouse at Robinson's Magnolia was the perfect place to enjoy that. The Clubhouse offers a lot of food choices from international cuisine and puts a Pinoy twist to them. I was on a Korean and Japanese food craving so their Kimchi and Bulgogi Bibimbap (Php185.00) caught my fancy.
